Muggy Day

Springbank Park, London, Ontario

I took a brief walk at Springbank Park this morning.  It was cloudy, dull, threatening rain, and muggy.  I saw the regular birds I usually see, Robins, Cardinal, Barn Swallows, Gray Catbird, Red-winged Blackbirds, Red-bellied Woodpecker, White-breasted Nuthatch, Chipping Sparrows, Song Sparrows, Mallard, Canada Geese, Yellow Warblers, and Warbling Vireo.  Not a good day for photos.  Here are a few I took.

Flowers in Springbank

Springbank Park, London, Ontario                11c, overcast

There was no sun but it was a nice pleasant morning.  I went to Springbank to see what I can find.  I heard and saw a lot of birds but could not get photos.  I was so happy to see some Chimney Swifts which are a threatened species.  There was about 7 or 8 of them flying around overhead.  Other birds were a Catbird, Yellow Warblers, Red-eyed Vireos, 2 Carolina Wrens, Baltimore Orioles, Song Sparrows, Red-winged Blackbirds, a flock of grackles, Cardinals, Barn Swallows, Bank Swallows, American Goldfinches, Robins, lots of Canada Geese on the grassy areas, Mallards and Mourning Doves.

Short Walk in Springbank

Thursday, May 24, 2018 - Springbank Park, London, Ontario

The Wisteria vines are always nice this time of the year.

With the leaves out now, it was difficult getting a photo of the Rose-breasted Grosbeak.

Rose-breasted Grosbeak

I can see this turtle on the rock in the middle of the Thames River quite far out.  I snapped a couple of pictures and when I looked at the pictures at home, there were 2 other smaller ones there too!  I was happy to see that!

Nice Morning in Springbank

Springbank Park, London, Ontario                 21c, warm, sunny

I went for a morning walk at Springbank.  I went to the area where the trees are full of blossoms.  They are gorgeous.  The Baltimore Orioles were at the blossoms for nectar.

I found a pocket of warblers along the Thames River near Storybook Gardens.  They were very active and singing.  Yellow Warblers, Yellow-rumped Warblers, Magnolia Warblers, and Black-throated Blue Warblers.
Also saw Brown Thrasher, Gray Catbird, Rose-breasted Grosbeaks, and Baltimore Orioles among others.

Springbank Blossoms

Springbank Park - London, Ontario

Springbank Park is very pretty this time of year with the trees in blossom.  It was a nice morning for a walk....high of 20c and sunny.  There are some spots in the park the trees are grouped with different kinds of  blossom trees.  It's just beautiful.
